Option 2 : Displacement of brain tissue
Concept:
- Intracranial pressure -> The pressure inside the skull -> Accumulation of Cerebrospinal fluid or Intracranial Hemorrhage
- Intracranial pressure increase sign and symptoms -> Bleeding, tumor, hypertension, stroke and aneurysm.
- ICP increase -> Neurological upset.
- Frequent assessment tools include:-
- CT scan
- MRI
- Spinal Tap
Explanation:
- Head injury -> An assault caused to the head -> External factors -> Can lead to potential damage in the brain.
- Any brain injury -> Brain tissue displacement -> Normal function is affected.
- Altered brain function symptoms -> Loss of muscle coordination, altered state of consciousness, trouble in speech and vision problem.
- Management -> Increase Ventilation-> Prevent further complications -> Symptomatic treatment.
- Increased in cerebral perfusion -> Bleeding is not the same as perfusion.
- Improved brain tissue oxygenation -> Loss of blood -> Does not nourish the brain tissue.
- Increase in serum pH -> Acidosis is seen in case of head injury.
