Testing of transformer:
There are two types of tests performed on the transformer.
1.) Open circuit test:

- This test is performed on the LV side keeping the HV side open-circuited.
- Ammeter, voltmeter and wattmeter is connected on LV side.
- It is performed on rated voltage and rated frequency.
- It gives magnetizing current and core loss.
- It gives the turn ratio.
2.) Short circuit test:

- This test is performed on the HV side keeping the LV side short-circuited.
- Ammeter, voltmeter and wattmeter is connected on HV side.
- It is performed on rated current
- It gives copper loss.
- It helps in the calculation of equivalent leakage impedance.
- It helps in the determination of voltage regulation.
