Formula used:

Percentage formula = (Value / Total value) × 100

Calculation:

Let the total population of Jaipur be x and the population of Udaipur be y.

The number of women of Jaipur = 48000 = 40% of x

Then,

⇒ (40 / 100) × x = 48000

⇒ x = 120,000 = total population of Jaipur

Total number of men in Jaipur = 120,000 – 48000 = 72000

The total population of Jaipur = 25% more than the total population of Udaipur

⇒ 120,000 = (125 / 100) × y.

⇒ y = 96000

The ratio between Jaipur men and women of Udaipur = 5 : 3

Let the total number of men in Jaipur be 5a and the total number of women in Udaipur be 3a

Now 5a = 72000 ⇒ a = 14400

So the total number of women in Udaipur = 3a = 3 × 14400 = 43200

Now to find the total population of men in Udaipur

⇒ The total population of Jaipur – Total number of women in Udaipur

⇒ 96000 – 43200 = 52800
