In a certain election, total 480 men and 385 women voted for the winning candidate. Find the total number of men and women who voted in the election. Statement I∶ The ratio of number of men and women who voted in the election is 12 ∶ 11. Statement II∶ 100 more men than total women have voted in the election. Statement III∶ 40% of the men and 35% of the women voted for the winning candidate. Correct Answer Statement III alone is sufficient to answer the question.
Statement III∶
Suppose total men and women who voted in the election were ‘x’ & ‘y’ respectively;
∴ 0.4x = 480 and 0.35y = 385
Hence, x = 1200 and y = 1100
∴ Total number of men and women who voted in the election = 2300
∴ Statement III alone is sufficient to answer the question.
