Yes, this only takes some basic tools—maybe two pipe wrenches, or maybe a pair of channel locks. The only time it might be difficult is if it's a really old drain that's been frozen in place for a number of years. Otherwise, it should just unscrew, then you can replace the drain and screw it right back together. Just be careful not to break the fittings.
