A person buys 4 fans and 9 watches for Rs. 26800. If he sells fans at 10% profit and watches at 20% profit, he gets a profit of Rs. 3760. What is the total cost price of 2 fans and 3 watches? Correct Answer Rs. 11600

Given:

Cost Price of 4 fans and 9 watches = Rs. 26800

Profit = Rs. 3760

Formula Used:

Profit% = (SP - CP)/CP × 100

Loss% = (CP - SP)/CP × 100

where CP → Cost Price, SP → Selling Price

Calculations:

Let the cost price of 1 fan be x and 1 watch be y

4x + 9y = 26800      ----(1)

Selling Price of fan = 1.1 × 4x = 4.4x

Selling Price of watches = 1.2 × 9y = 10.8y

So now

4.4x + 10.8y = 26800 + 3760 = 30560      ----(2)

Solving (1) and (2) simultaneously

x = 4000

y = 1200

now calculating

 total cost price of 2 fans and 3 watches = 2x + 3y = (2 × 4000) + (3 × 1200)

 total cost price of 2 fans and 3 watches = 8000 + 3600 = 11600

∴  total cost price of 2 fans and 3 watches is Rs. 11600
