A shopkeeper has two kinds of dal the costlier dal is Rs.120/kg and cheaper one is Rs.80/kg. A person buys 18 kg dal of costlier kind but the shopkeeper mixes costlier and cheaper dal in ratio 7 ∶ 2 but takes the price of costlier one and offers a discount of 6.25%. What is his actual profit? Correct Answer Rs.25

Quantity of dal bought by the shopkeeper = 18 kg

Ratio of costlier and cheaper item mixed = 7 ∶ 2

∴ Quantity of costlier item = (7/9) × 18 = 14

Quantity of cheaper item = (2/9) × 18 = 4

Price of the mixture = 14 × 120 + 4 × 80 = Rs.2000

Price marked by shopkeeper = 18 × 120 = Rs.2160

Now, 6.25% discount offered

∴ Cost price of the mixture = 2160 × (15/16) = Rs.2025

∴ Profit of the shopkeeper = 2025 – 2000 = Rs.25
