সিস্টোলিক রক্তচাপ : হৃদপিন্ডের সংকোচন ও প্রসারণের মাধ্যমে রক্ত প্রবাহিত হয়। হৃদপিন্ডের সংকোচনকে সিস্টোল বলে। হৃদপিন্ডের সংকোচন অবস্থায় যে রক্তচাপ থাকে তাকে সিস্টোলিক রক্তচাপ বলে। ডায়াস্টোলিক রক্তচাপ : হৃদপিন্ডের প্রসারিত অবস্থাকে ডায়াস্টোল বলা হয়। হৃদপিন্ডের প্রসারিত অবস্থায় রক্তের চাপকে ডায়াস্টোলিক রক্তচাপ বলে। সিস্টোলিক রক্তচাপ, ডায়াস্টোলিক রক্তচাপের থেকে বেশি হয়।
