Boat moves downstream at 2 km in 12 minutes and upstream at 1 km in 10 minutes
That is, boat moves downstream at 1 km in 6 minutes and upstream at 1 km in 10 minutes
Formula used:
Speed = Distance/Time
x = ½ (u + v); where, u is speed of rowing downstream, v is speed of rowing upstream and x is speed of boat in still water.
Calculation:
Downstream speed, u = 1/6 × 60 = 10 kmph
Upstream speed, v = 1/10 × 60 = 6 kmph
Thus, speed of boat in still water = x = ½ (u + v) = ½ (10+6) = 8 kmph
