Quantity A:

Let Speed of both trains are ST1 and ST2

Distance covered by Train1 in 1 hour at the speed of 40 km/hr = 40 km

Remaining Distance = 640 - 40 = 600 km

ST1 + ST2 = (Total Distance)/Time

⇒ 40 + 60 = 600/Time

⇒ 100 = 600/Time

⇒ Time = 600/100 = 6 hours

Distance from Jaipur when they met = Distance covered by Train1 in 6 hours + 40 km = 40 × 6 + 40 = 240 + 40 = 280 km

Quantity B:

Let Speed of both trains are ST1 and ST2

Distance covered by Shatabdi Express in 2 hour at the speed of 80 km/hr = 160 km

ST2 - ST1 = (Total Distance)/Time

⇒ 120 - 80 = 160/Time

⇒ 40 = 160/Time

⇒ Time = 160/40 = 4 hours

Distance from Delhi when they met = Distance covered by Rajdhani Express in 4 hours = 120 × 4 = 480 km

∴ Quantity A < Quantity B
