Calculation:

Total number of students appeared in both school A and school B = (990 + 1050 + 1120 + 1190 + 1000 + 1100 + 1150 + 1200)

⇒ 8800

Total number of students passed in both school A and school B = (708 + 810 + 912 + 1050 + 750 + 805 + 850 + 1050)

⇒ 6935

Difference between the total number of students who appeared in the examination and the total number of students who passed in these four years:

⇒8800 - 6935 = 1865

Hence the required difference is 1865.
