In a large catering order apple mojito is prepared in two different vessels. Vessel 1 consists of 39 litres of apple pulp in 52 litres mixture and in second vessel water is 15 litres and mixture is 40 litres. These mixtures are mixed in a new vessel and final mixture consist water as 30% of mixture. In what ratio were the two mixtures mixed? Correct Answer 3 : 2

Given:

Vessel 1:

Apple Pulp = 39 litres

Total quantity = 52 Litres

Vessel 2:

Water = 15 litres

Total quantity = 40 litres

Final quantity of water after mixing = 30%

Calculation:

Water in vessel 1 = 52 – 39

⇒ Water in vessel 1 = 13 Litres

Percentage of water in vessel 1 = (13/ 52) × 100

⇒ Percentage of water in vessel 1 = 25%

Water in vessel 2 = (15/ 40) × 100

⇒ Water in vessel 2 = 37.5%

Water in final mixture = 30%

Applying alligation method:

⇒   25%                      37.5%

                      30%

      7.5%                         5%

⇒ Ratio = 7.5 : 5

⇒ Ratio = 1.5 : 1

⇒ Ratio = 3 : 2

∴ Both of the mixtures were mixed in 3 : 2 ratio
