Three persons A, B and C donate 10%, 7% and 9% respectively of their monthly salaries to a charitable trust. Monthly salaries of A and B are equal and the difference between the donations of A and B is Rs. 900. If the total donation by A and B is Rs. 600 more than that of C, then what is the monthly salary (in Rs.) of C? Correct Answer 50000
Given:
Money donate by A = 10%
Money donate by B = 7%
Money donate by C = 9%
Salary of A and B are equal
The difference between the donations of A and B = Rs. 900.
The total donation by A and B = Rs. 600 more than that of C
Calculation:
Let the salary of A and B be 100x and C be 100y respectively.
Money donate by A = (100x × 10/100) = 10x
Money donate by B = (100x × 7/100) = 7x
Money donate by C = (100y × 9/100) = 9y
According to the question
⇒ 10x – 7x = 900
⇒ 3x = 900
⇒ x = 300
Total donation of A and B = (10x + 7x) = 17x
⇒ 17 × 300 = 5100
The total donation by A and B is Rs. 600 more than that of C
⇒ 5100 – 9y = 600
⇒ 9y = 4500
⇒ y = 500
Monthly salary of C = 100y = (100 × 500)
⇒ Rs. 50000
∴ The required salary of C is Rs. 50000
