Keerthi invests 15% of her monthly salary in medicine, 20% of her monthly salary in shopping and 40% of her monthly salary in household expenses. She saves the remaining amount of Rs. 4500/-. What is Kirti's annual salary (in Rs.)? Correct Answer Rs. 216000

Calculation:

Let Keerthi's monthly salary be Rs x

Keerthi invests 15% of her monthly salary in medicine and spends 20% of her monthly salary in shopping and spends 40% of her salary on household expenses

In total, she spends (15 + 20 + 40) % = 75% of her monthly income

i.e she saves (100 – 75)% = 25% of her monthly income

She saves the remaining amount of Rs. 4500

⇒ 25% of her monthly income = 4500

⇒ (25/100) × x = 4500

⇒ x = 4500 × (100/25)

⇒ x = 18000

Keerthi's annual income = 12 × monthly income = 12 × 18000 = Rs 216000
