720 sweets are distributed equally among the children in such a way that the number of sweets given to each child is equal to 20% of the total number of children. How many sweets did each child get? Correct Answer 12

Given,

Total number of sweets = 720

Concept :

x% of any value = Actual value × (x/100)

Calculation :

Let number of children be x, then

Number of sweets each child get = x × (20/100)

According to the question

x × x × 20/100 = 720

⇒ x2/5 = 720

⇒ x2 = 720 × 5

⇒ x2 = 3600

⇒ x = √3600

⇒ x = 60

∴ Number of sweets each child get is = 60/5 = 12
