Advik bought a scooter for a certain sum of money. He spent 15% of the cost on repairs and sold the scooter for profit of Rs. 1250. How much did he spend on repairs if he made a profit of 25%? Correct Answer Rs. 652.17

Given:

Advik spent on repairing = 15% of cost price

Advik made a profit of = 25%

Profit of scooter = Rs. 1250

Formula:

SP = CP × (100 + profit %)/100

Calculation:

Let cost price of the scooter be 100x

Cost of scooter after repairing = 100x × 115/100 = 115x

⇒ Amount spent on scooter = 115x – 100x = 15x

Profit of scooter = 115x × (25/100) = Rs. 115x/4

According to the question,

115x/4 = 1250

⇒ x = (1250 × 4)/115 = 5000/115

∴ Amount spent of repairing = 15 × 5000/115 = Rs. 652.17
