A man was walked along the hypotenuse across a right-triangle plot. The other two sides measured 30 m and 40 m respectively. Approximately how much distance saved by not walking along the sides? (in m) Correct Answer 20

Given

The other two side of triangle = 30 m and 25 m

Formula Used

H2 = P2 + B2

Calculation

Hypotnuese = √(302 + 402) = 50 m

So, Total distance along the sides = 30 m + 40 m = 70 m

then, A man saved distance by not walking along the side = 70 - 50 = 20 m

∴ The distance saved by not walking along the side is 20 m
