A person retires from the job and gets some amount as retirement fund. He saves 35% of the fund and the remaining amount is distributed among his wife, a son and a daughter in the ratio of 6 : 5 : 2. If the difference between the share of son and the amount which he saves for himself is Rs. 27200. Find the total amount which he received as a retirement fund. Correct Answer Rs. 272000
Let the amount received by the person be 100x
Given, he saved 35% of the received amount for himself
and distributed among wife, son and a daughter in the ratio 6 : 5 : 2
⇒ Saved amount for himself = 100x × 35% = 35x
⇒ Remaining amount = 100x - 35x = 65x
⇒ Amount received by wife = 65x × 6/13 = 30x
⇒ Amount received by son = 65x × 5/13 = 25x
⇒ Amount received by daughter = 65x × 2/13x = 10x
Now, accordign to question
35x - 25x = 27200
⇒ 10x = 27200
⇒ x = 2720
So, the total amount received by the person at there retirement = 100x
Hence, 2720 × 100 = Rs. 272000
