A father distributed his share to his two sons, one daughter and his wife. Share of each son is twice the share of his wife and thrice the share of his daughter. If the difference of his wife’s and his daughter’s share is Rs. 5,000. How much his two sons got Correct Answer Rs. 60,000

Given:

Share of each son = 1/2 of share of wife = 1/3 of share of daughter

Wife’s share – daughter’s share = 5000

Concept used:

If X is distributed between A and B in the ratio of a ∶ b, then A = a/(a + b) × X and B = b/(a + b) × X

To convert any ratio to exact value, we should have to multiply any constant value

Calculation:

Let share of each son be x

Share of wife = (1/2) × x

Share of daughter = (1/3) × x

Ratio of share of son, wife and daughter = x ∶ x/2 ∶ x/3

⇒ son ∶ wife ∶ daughter = 1 ∶ 1/2 ∶ 1/3 = 6 ∶ 3 ∶ 2

Let, share of son, wife and daughter be 6x, 3x and 2x respectively

The difference of his wife’s and his daughter’s share = 5000

⇒ 3x – 2x = 5000

⇒ x = 5000

The share of son = 6x

⇒ 6 × 5000

⇒ 30,000

The share of two sons = 30000 × 2 = 60,000

∴ The share of two sons is Rs. 60,000.
