Two vessels A and B contain spirit and water in the ratio 5 : 2 and 7 : 6 respectively. Find the ratio in which these mixtures be mixed to obtain a new mixture in vessel C containing spirit and water in the ratio 8 : 5? Correct Answer 7 : 9

Given :

Two vessels A and B contain spirit and water in the ratio 5 : 2 and 7 : 6 respectively

The final mixture contains spirit and water in the ratio of 8 : 5.

Calculations :

Spirit in mixture A = 5/7   (spirit : water = 5 : 2)

Spirit in mixture B = 7/13   ((spirit : water = 7 : 6)
Spirit in final mixture of C = 8/13     ((spirit : water = 8 : 5)

Now using allegation method

So ratio will be 7 : 9

∴ Option 4 is the correct choice.
