In 160 litres of mixture of milk and water, milk is only 70%. The milkman sold 36 litres of this mixture and then he added 18.2 litres of pure milk and 7.8 litres of pure water in the remaining mixture. What is the percentage of milk in the final mixture? Correct Answer 70%

Amount of mixture = 160 litre

Milkman sold = 36 litre

∴ Remaining amount of the mixture = 124 litre

∵ in the mixture milk is 70%

∴ Amount of milk in the remaining mixture = (0.70 × 124) litre = 86.8 litre

Amount of water in the remaining mixture = (124 - 86.8) litre = 37.2 litre

Milkman added 18.2 litre pure milk and 7.8 litres pure water

∴ Amount of milk in the final mixture = (86.8 + 18.2) litre = 105 litre

Amount of water in the final mixture = (37.2 + 7.8) litre = 45 litre

∴ Required percentage = (105/150) × 100 = 70%
