10 litre of mixture ‘A’ of Castrol oil and Petrol, containing 64% Petrol, is added to 5 litre of mixture B of Castrol oil and Petrol containing 55% Petrol, to get a mixture C. Then, 30 litre of mixture X containing 12% Castrol oil is added to mixture C. What is the percentage content of Castrol oil in the final mixture?

10 litre of mixture ‘A’ of Castrol oil and Petrol, containing 64% Petrol, is added to 5 litre of mixture B of Castrol oil and Petrol containing 55% Petrol, to get a mixture C. Then, 30 litre of mixture X containing 12% Castrol oil is added to mixture C. What is the percentage content of Castrol oil in the final mixture? Correct Answer 21%

Given:

10 litre of mixture ‘A’ of Castrol oil and Petrol, containing 64% Petrol, is added to 5 litre of mixture B of Castrol oil and Petrol containing 55% Petrol to get a mixture C.

Furthur, 30 litre of mixture X containing 12% Castrol oil is added to mixture C.

Concept used:

We will be using the concept of ratio.

Calculation:

⇒ Quantity of petrol in mixture A = 64% of 10 = 6.4 litre

⇒ Quantity of petrol in mixture B = 55% of 5 = 2.75 litre

⇒ Quantity of petrol in mixture X = (100 – 12)% of 30 = 26.4 litre

⇒ Total quantity of mixture C = 10 + 5 + 30 = 45 litre

⇒ Total quantity of petrol in mixture C = 6.5 + 2.75 + 26.4 = 35.55 litre

⇒ Required % = {(45 – 35.55)/45} × 100 = 21%

∴ Percentage content of Castrol Oil in the final mixture is 21%
