Given below are two quantities named A & B. Based on the given information; you have to determine the relation between the two quantities. You should use the given data and your knowledge of Mathematics to choose between the possible answers. Quantity A∶ Percentage of water in the final mixture, when a mixture of 20 litre having 80% pure milk is mixed with 10 litre pure milk. Quantity B∶ Profit percentage when a 50 litre of pure milk is mixed with 10 litre of water and the mixture is sold at the cost price of milk.
Correct Answer Quantity A < Quantity B
Quantity A∶
Quantity of Mixture = 20 litre
Quantity of Milk = 80% of 20 litre = 16 litre
⇒ Quantity of Water = 20 – 16 = 4 litre
Pure milk added to the mixture = 10 litre
Total quantity of milk now = 16 + 10 = 26 litre
Quantity of Water remains = 4 litre
Percentage of water in the final mixture = 4/30 × 100 = 40/3 %
Quantity B∶
Let the cost price of one litre pure milk = Rs. 1 per litre
The cost price of 50 litre pure milk = Rs. 50
10 litre water is added and the mixture is sold at the cost price of the pure milk
⇒ It is sold at the cost price of 60 litre milk = Rs. 60
Selling price = Rs. 60
Cost price = Rs. 50
Profit = 60 – 50 = Rs. 10
Profit percentage = 10/50 × 100 = 20%
∴ Quantity A < Quantity B
