In mixture A of milk and water, milk is 40 liters more than water in it and quantity of milk and water in mixture B of milk and water is same. Mixtures A and B are mixed in the ratio 5 ∶ 3 to form mixture C in which milk becomes three times of quantity of water, then what is the difference between milk and water in mixture C? Correct Answer 200 liters

Let, the quantity of water in mixture A be x and, the quantity of water in mixture B be y.

According to question,

Milk

Water

A

X + 40

X

B

Y

Y

Given that,

Mixtures A and B are mixed in the ratio 5 ∶ 3 to form mixture C,

∴ Milk in mixture c will be = 5 (x + 40) + 3y

And, Water in mixture c will be = 5x + 3y

∴ Required difference = 5 (x + 40) + 3y – 5x + 3y

⇒ 5x + 200 + 3y – 5x + 3y

⇒ 200
