The following question has three statements. Study the question and the statements and decide which of the statement (s) is/are necessary to answer the question. The percentage of milk in three mixtures A, B, and C is 60%, 75%, and 80% respectively. Find the quantity of water in the resultant mixture. I) All three mixtures A, B and C are mixed in the ratio of 1 : 3 : 2 respectively. II) Quantity of resultant mixture of three mixtures is 60 liters. III) The ratio of water quantity in three mixtures is 8 : 15 : 24.
Correct Answer I and II together
From statement I:
Let the quantity of mixtures A, B, and C mixed be a liters, 3a liters, and 2a liters respectively.
From statement I and II:
⇒ a + 3a + 2a = 60
⇒ a = 10
Quantity of mixture A = 10 liters
Similarly, the Quantity of mixtures B and C is 30 liters and 20 liters respectively.
Quantity of water in the resultant mixture = 10 × 40/100 + 30 × 25/100 + 20 × 20/100
= 15.5 liters
From statement III:
Let the quantity of water in three mixtures be 8m, 15m and 24m liters respectively.
We can't find the quantity of water using statement III.
∴ Using statements I and II we can answer the question.
