There are 56 passengers travelling in a bus out of which 26 are males and the rest are females. At the next stop, 12 males and 8 females get down and 7 males and 6 females enter the bus. What is the ratio of males and females in the bus now? Correct Answer 3 : 4
Initial count :
Total passengers in the bus = 56
Males = 26, Females = 30
At the next stop,
Males = 26 (initial total)-12 (no. of males who got down) +7 (no. of males who entered) = 21
Females = 30 (initial total) - 8 (no. of females who got down) + 6 (no. of females who entered) = 28
Thus, 21 : 28 = 3 × 7 : 4 × 7 = 3 : 4.
Hence, the required ratio is 3 : 4.
