Given,
Price of X + Price of Y = Rs. 130 ----(1)
Price of X + Price of Y + 9% of Price of Y = Rs. 136.75 ----(2)
Subtracting eq. (1) from (2), we get,
⇒ 9/100 × Price of Y = 136.75 – 130 = 6.75
⇒ Price of Y = 100/9 × 6.75 = Rs. 75
∴ Price of article Y before sales tax = Rs. 75
