Never allow animals to urinate on fresh sod for at least 60 days when the roots have begun to take to the soil. Conversely, I would encourage defecation. You still need to check the pH balance of your pet's urine to prevent the roots from ambering, this will occur until the grass has gone twice-dormant. A kit can be purchased at most farm supply shops and many drug stores to check animal urine pH levels.
