Get a headshot and resume, and go to auditions if you're just starting out so you can see what the process is like. Talk with somebody to help you prepare for your audition—a lot of times a community theater will mention the shows they're doing that season, and they'll break down each show with the type of actor they'll need. It's also really important to read a play that you're auditioning for (even seeing the movie version is better than nothing).
