No, this is obsolete advice these days. It's perfectly fine if your resume extends past a single page. I still hear this advice all the time from online articles and college classes, but it's outdated advice at this point. The vast majority of employers couldn't care less if your resume is two pages. Now, does it have be two pages? No. Should you pad your resume with irrelevant information to make it longer than one page? No. But if you have a bunch of relevant experience to highlight, feel free to go over a single page.
