Option 3 : Looking for a single obvious solution to the problem
George Polya is known as the father of modern mathematical problem-solving.In 1945, he proposed a book "How to solve it", in which he explains all the four steps.
According to Polya, the sequence of all the four steps in problem-solving is as:
- Understand the problem:- Children should put their efforts to understand the problem as to which type of the given problem is.
- Devise a plan:- Plan a strategy by which the problem gets easily solved. Example: Use symmetry, make a list, use the model, etc.
- Carry out the plan:- Persist with the plan that you have chosen, check each step and if the plan is continuous not working leave the plan and devise another plan.
- Look back:- Check the outcome (result) of the problem, and look back to see from which steps you get results.
Thus, from the above-mentioned points, it is clear that Looking for a single obvious solution to the problem is least related with problem-solving in mathematics according to George Polya.
