Option 4 : Use of multiple solution task.

Creative thinking is developed in the students then there will be no need for the students to depend just upon the formula to solve a problem they can think creatively and can obtain the formula from various steps and solve the problem appropriately. Using multiple solution tasks will enhance creative thinking in children because:

  • Here rote memorization is avoided as the question doesn't have a fixed answer.
  • The children themselves can choose their method to solve the problem without any pressure on them.
  • Divergent thinking in students will be enhanced as they will be inserting the solution in their method which is comfortable for them.
  • As the task is capable of obtaining multiple solutions that children will come up with multiple solutions according to their thinking capacity.
  • As there is no one solution fixed every student will think in his method to arrive at the solution which enhances the creative thinking.

Hence use of multiple solution tasks is related to developing creative thinking among students.

  • On the other hand use of the lecture method, the use of formal algorithms, and the use of multiple close-ended problems don't lead to creative thinking as here the scope and freedom for students to explore is less and they have to find out the one fixed solution.
