Some rocky material tends to do really well with a pond. Pick up boulders in multiple sizes to add some variety. Depending on the size of the pond, start with six-inch boulders and work your way up. I'd say with a 10-foot pond, you'd start with an 18 inch boulder and work your way down from there. Plants look really good around a pond as well. So if you can mound up dirt in between the boulders and add plantings in between, then that will usually look really good. It looks like you're walking in a mountain stream, so to speak, with that type of look.
