Option 4 : 4 days

Given:

Time taken by Ankit to complete the job = 10 days

Time taken by Bunty to complete the job = 5 days

Time taken by both to complete the job = 9 days

Formula Used:

Work Efficiency = (Total Work)/(Time taken to complete work)

Calculation:

[ alt="short" src="//storage.googleapis.com/tb-img/production/21/06/short.png" style="width: 300px; height: 182px;">

Here,

Total Work = (LCM of 15 & 10)

⇒ 30

So, Efficiency of Ankit = 30/10

⇒ 3

& Efficiency of Bunty = 30/15

⇒ 2

Observe that, Bunty is involved in the work from start to finish.

So, Amount of work done by Bunty in 9 days = Efficiency × Number of days

⇒ 2 × 9

⇒ 18

Now, Remaining work = Total work - Work done by Bunty

⇒ 30 - 18

⇒ 12

This remaining work is done by Ankit before leaving the work.

So, Number of days after which Ankit left the work = (Remaining work)/(Ankit's efficiency)

⇒ 12/3

⇒ 4 days

∴ Ankit left the work after 4 days.
