What are the symptoms of osteoarthritis of the knee?

Major symptoms are pain, swelling and difficulty walking.

- Pain during exercise A major symptom of osteoarthritis of the knee is knee pain which occurs during knee motions. In the early stages, this pain often develops when body weight is loaded onto the knee (e.g., when the individual stands up or begins walking). At slightly advanced stages, the pain also appears during special motions such as walking upstairs/downstairs and bending knee. The pain decreases when the individual remains still, but at advanced stages the pain persists even at rest.

- Fluid pooling in the knee and swelling of the knee Inflammation develops in the joint and fluid pools around the patella (knee cap). Fluid pooling causes swelling of the knee, occasionally resulting in pain and difficulty moving the knee.

- Disturbed knee motions (difficulty moving the knee) The patient has difficulty bending or stretching the knee. Deviation of body position to one side is occasionally seen when the patient begins walking.

মুখকাম বা মুখমৈথুন যেটাকে কখনো কখনো মুখসঙ্গম ও বলা হয় হচ্ছে একটি যৌনকর্ম যাতে একজন ব্যক্তি মুখগহ্বর বা কন্ঠনালী ব্যবহার করে আরেক ব্যক্তির যৌনাঙ্গ উদ্দীপিত করে থাকেন। যদি নারীর যোনি উদ্দীপিত করা হয় তবে সেটাকে যোনি-মুখমৈথুন এবং পুরুষের শিশ্ন উদ্দীপিত করলে তাকে শিশ্ন-মুখমৈথুন বলে। এছাড়া মানবদেহের অন্যান্য জায়গায় মুখগহ্বরের মাধ্যমে উদ্দীপিত করলে সেটি মুখমৈথুন হিসেবে পরিগণিত হবে যেমন পায়ুর মৌখিক উদ্দীপনাকে পায়ু-মুখমৈথুন, এছাড়া স্তনের ক্ষেত্রে, নাভির ক্ষেত্রে, উরুর ক্ষেত্রে, বগলের ক্ষেত্রে ইত্যাদি। মুখমৈথুন প্রেম-ভালোবাসার প্রকাশ কিংবা যৌনমিলন শুরু করার পূর্বে শৃঙ্গার কর্ম হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে, আজকাল এই ধরনের কর্ম একটি স্বতন্ত্র 'যৌনসঙ্গম' হিসেবেও পরিগণিত হয়। এই ধরনের যৌনক্রিয়ার মাধ্যমে যৌনবাহিত রোগ হতে পারে যেমন মুখগহ্বরে প্রদাহ, এইচপিভি সংক্রমণ, হার্পিস, সিফিলিস ইত্যাদি।
