A Rainy Day 

How threading is nature on a rainy day. Yet she is lovely to look at. It is thrilling to move about on a day like this.

The day is dark and the sky is overcast with cloud. Rain comes down in torrents. Small muddy pools of water are here and there and everywhere. Trees bath themselves. Drops of water bang mother branches of the tree and drip on the earth below. A wander caught unaware is found taking shelter under the wide spreading branches of tall trees. No animal stress out. The whole region in drenched with rain.

Farmers with their bullocks, plough the fields. All are in ankle deep mud. It is steadily raining. They give up plugging. Mother earth is ready for fresh yield.

I walk up to the river bank on a day like this. Rain drops merge themselves into waves. Muddy waves throws their whole might against the bank. They oppose the movements of the boats. A blinding wind adds to the misery of the boatman. And the blinding rain obscures everything beyond.

I stand drenched under a tree. A few hours pass and streams came rushing down the sloppy places. Very soon they find level ground on and on the water flows sweeping away dirt and filth.

The rain stops and the clouds sail across the sky. The sun too shows it face but rather timidly. It seems frightened by the change that has came over nature. The nun hides again. The rainbow makes its appearance. Its beautiful colors lend a charm to the dull back ground of the sky. I see a flash of lighting and hear a distant rumbling and it rain.

The evening draws near. The rain pattes against the windows. Everyone is confined to his room. It rains hard and the wind hisses. The fury of nature goes on for hours.

A Rainy Day   

It is called a rainy day when it rains throughout the whole day. Sometimes it drizzles all day long and sometimes it rains heavily. A rainy day is dull and gloomy. The sky remains overcast with black clouds. The unmetalled road becomes muddy and slippery. Water stands here and there. None can go out without an umbrella. Those having some urgent piece of business go out with shoes in one hand and an umbrella in another. The sun is not seen at all.Gusty wind blows from all sides. Birds keep standing on branches of trees or keep quiet in their nests. Cattle keep standing in their sheds and bellow for the fodder. School going children get a chance to remain away from school,  but the peasants and day labourers have to go about their work even in rain. That is, the poor labourers suffer very much. It is a curse for the poor.On the contrary, a rainy day is a pleasant day for the rich. They remain at home and eat delicious food. They listen to the music of rainfall. In fact, we can say that a rainy day is not a happy one for all classes of people.

    

A rainy day is a day when it rains ceaselessly all day long during the rainy season. It is called a drizzling day. The sky is overcast with patches of black clouds and the sun remains hidden behind them. The weather is foul. The sun is not seen. Sometimes, gusty wind blows with rain. Rivers, canals and tanks swell up. Roads and paths get muddy and slippery. Water stands here and there. Normal life is disrupted due to heavy rain. One does not generally come out without compulsion. The common people cannot attend their respective places in time. If anybody wants to go outside, he has to take an umbrella with him. The poor and the day laborers do not like a rainy day. They cannot go out to earn their living. Their suffering know no bounds. They go on starving. A rainy day is most welcomed to the students, as they have no classes in the school. A rainy day brings joyous mood to the young boys of the same age and they are seen to bathe in rainwater with merriment. People pass the boy in listening to music, watching videocassettes, reading novels. Those who have imaginary bent of mind enjoy the beauty of nature being drenched in rains. The cloudy sky lets loose their emotions. A rainy day has good effect on the soil. It helps plants grow, flowers bloom and nature looks fresh and beautiful. However, a rainy day is welcomed after the baking heat of summer.

It seems dull and gloomy. They sky is covered with dark clouds. Clouds fly here and there in the sky. Most of the time, the sky is not seen clearly. People can not go out without umbrella. Water stands on the road. Village roads become muddy and slippery. Sometimes roads go under water. As a result, vehicles writings can not run on the road. It brings sufferings to the office going people. Sometimes it may late to reach the office. A rainy day is a curse to the poor people too. They can not go out from their house to earn livelihood. They have to starve. It also brings sufferings to the school going boys and girls. They can not go to their educational institutions. Though a few go, they get drenched on the way. As a result, classes are not held. So, it becomes a joyous day to them. A rainy day shakes our mind. It reminds our childhood. Sometimes we become affectionate to remember our childhood.
