আন্টিমনি আসলে ধাতু নয় । এটি মেটালয়েড ( উপধাতু বা দুর্বল ধাতু) । ধাতুর মত দেখতে হলেও এরা সাধারণত ভঙ্গুর হয় এবং এদের তড়িৎ পরিবাহিতা কম হয়। রাসায়নিক বিক্রিয়ায় বেশীরভাগ ক্ষেত্রেই অধাতুর মত আচরণ করে।
