At what price per Kg did he purchase the second type of rice. Correct Answer Rs. 36
Given:
Cost price of 1st variety of rice is Rs. 25 per kg
Quantity purchased of 1st variety of rice = 5 kg
Quantity purchased of 2nd variety of rice = 6 kg
Price of new mixture = Rs. 31 per kg
Calculation:
Let the C.P. of second type of rice = Rs. x
Cost price of mixture = [(25 × 5 + x × 6)
⇒ (125 + 6x)
Selling price of a mixture = 31 × 11
⇒ Rs. 341
Selling price of mixture = Cost price of mixture, as there is no profit or loss
⇒ 341 = (125 + 6x)
⇒ 341 = 125 + 6x
⇒ 341 - 125 = 6x
⇒ 216 = 6x
⇒ 36 = x
∴ required C.P. of second type of rice = Rs. 36
