From question statement

If expenses on 1st day = Rs. x,

Then the expenses on each subsequent day will be Rs. (x + 10), (x + 20), (x + 30), (x + 40), (x + 50).

Total expenses for 6 days = (6x + 150)     ---- (1)

From statement I:

One-third of total expenses was made in the first 3 days.

(x + x + 10 + x + 20) = (6x + 150)/3

⇒ 3x + 30 = 2x + 50

⇒ x = 20

⇒ Total expenditure incurred in 6 days = 120 + 150 = Rs. 270

From statement II:

Expense on the 5th day is twice the expenses on 2nd day.

(x + 40) = 2 × (x + 10)

⇒ x = 20

⇒ Total expenditure incurred in 6 days = 120 + 150 = Rs. 270

∴ Either statement I or statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question.
