If a 1 kg of metal having 25% of zinc and rest is copper is mixed with 5 kg of metal having 40% zinc and rest is other ‘P' metal. What is the ratio of three elements(Zinc, Copper & 'P' metal) in the resulting mixture?

If a 1 kg of metal having 25% of zinc and rest is copper is mixed with 5 kg of metal having 40% zinc and rest is other ‘P' metal. What is the ratio of three elements(Zinc, Copper & 'P' metal) in the resulting mixture? Correct Answer 3 : 1 : 4

Formula used:

X% of Y = XY/100

Calculation:

Weight of zinc in 1 kg mixture = 1 × 25/100 = ¼ kg

Weight of copper in 1 kg mixture = 1 – ¼ = ¾ kg

Weight of zinc in 5 kg mixture = 5 × 40/100 = 2 kg

Weight of ‘P' in 5 kg mixture = 5 – 2 = 3 kg

Weight of zinc in both alloys = ¼ + 2 = 9/4 kg

∴ Required ratio = 9/4 : ¾ : 3

= 9/4 : 3/4 : 12/4

= 9 : 3 : 12

= 3 : 1 : 4
