The following question has three statements. Study the question and the statements and decide which of the statement (s) is/are necessary to answer the question. The amount spent on Rent is what percent of total salary? I) The savings is 50% less than the expenditure. II) The expenditure is 60% of the total salary. III) The amount spent on Rent is 30% of the total expenditure. Correct Answer II and III together

Let Expenditure be Rs. M.

From statement I:

Savings = 50M/100 = Rs. M/2

From statement II:

Total salary = M × 100/60 = Rs. 5M/3

From statement III:

Amount spent on rent = 30/100 × M = 3M/10

From statements II and III:

Required percentage = (3M/10) / (5M/3) × 100 = 18%

∴ Using statements II and III we can answer the question.
