A family invited a guest on dinner. The family includes 5 men and 3 women. If it is given that the average intake of men is 67.5 kg and that of women is 53 kg. What will be the intake of food by the guest if it is given that the arrival of guest affects the average and changes it to 61 kg? Correct Answer 52.50 kg
Given:
No of Men = 5 and Women = 3
the average intake of men is 67.5kg
the average intake of women is 53kg.
Formula Used:
Average = Total Consumption/Number of person
Calculation:
There are 5 men and 3 women
So, total consumption will be 67.5 × 5 = 337.5 (by men) and 53 × 3 = 159 (by women)
Total consumption by all the 8 members = 337.5 + 159
Total consumption by all the 8 members = 337.5 + 159
⇒ 496.5
But after including the guest, the average consumption for 9 people becomes 61 kg.
But after including the guest, the average consumption for 9 people becomes 61 kg.
So the total consumption will be 61 × 9 = 549
So, the Guest's consumption will be = 549 – 496.5
⇒ 52.50 kg
∴ The guest's intake of food is 52.5 kg
