Ramiya got married 8 years ago. Her present age is 6/5 times her age at the time of her marriage. Ramiya’s brother was 10 years younger than her at the time of her marriage. What is the ratio of Ramiya’s present age and her brother’s age at the time of her marriage? Correct Answer 8 : 5

Calculations:

Let Ramiya’s present age be x.

∴ her age at the time of her marriage is (x - 8) years.

⇒ x = 6/5(x - 8)

⇒ 5x = 6x – 48

⇒ x = 48 years

∴ Ramiya’s brothers age at the time of her marriage = (x – 8) – 10

⇒ 48 – 18

⇒ 30 years

∴ required ratio = 48 : 30

⇒ 8 : 5

The ratio of Ramiya’s present age and her brother’s age at the time of her marriage is 8 : 5.
