Given∶

The ratio between the present ages of Azad and Mehar is 5 ∶ 4.

The ratio between Azad’s age 3 years ago and Mehar’s age 3 years hence is 1 ∶ 1.

Formula Used∶

Concept of Ratio

Calculation∶

The ratio of present ages of Azad and Mehar = 5 ∶ 4

Let Azad’s Present age be 5a and Mehar’s present age be 4a

3 years ago, Azad age = (5a – 3) years

3 years hence, Mehar’s age = (4a + 3) years

According the question,

(5a – 3) ∶ (4a + 3) = 1 ∶ 1

⇒ a = 6

So, the present age of Azad = 5a = 5 × 6 = 30 years

And the present age of Mehar = 4a = 4 × 6 = 24 years

After 2 years, Azad’s age will be = 30 + 2 = 32 years

2 years ago, Mehar’s age was = 24 – 2 = 22

The required ratio = 32 ∶ 22 = 32/22 = 16 ∶ 11

∴ 16 ∶ 11 is the required ratio.
