Given:

Quantity of pure spirit initially in the vessel = 80 l

Ratio of spirit and water = 16 : 7

Quantity of solution removed = 46 l

Quantity of water added = 15 l

Calculation:

Quantity of the water in the initial solution = (7/16) × 80 = 35 l

Quantity of spirit in the final solution = 80 – (16/23) × 46

⇒ 80 – 32 = 48 l

Quantity of water in the final solution =

⇒ 35 – 14 + 15 = 36 l

⇒ The required percentage = {(36/48) × 100} = 75%

∴ The quantity of water in the resultant solution is what percent of that of spirit is 75%.
