Joy, Dev and Punit received a payment of Rs. 4400 for completing a job. If Joy worked for 5 days, Dev worked for a week and Punit worked for 9 days and their daily wages are in the ratio 3 ∶ 4 ∶ 5, then what is the amount earned by Punit? Correct Answer 2250

Given:

Total wage received by Joy, Dev and Punit = Rs. 4400

Work done by Joy = 5 days

Work done by Dev= 7 days

Work done by Punit = 9 days

Ratio of their daily wages = 3 ∶ 4 ∶ 5

Concept:

The wage of individual is in the ratio of their work done.

Formula used:

Wage received = Daily wage × no of days of work done

Calculation:

Let the daily wage of Joy, Dev and Punit = 3a, 4a, 5a

∴ Wage received by Joy = 3a × 5 = Rs. 15a

Wage received by Dev = 4a × 7 = Rs. 28a

Wage received by Punit = 5a × 9 = Rs. 45a

∵ Total wage received by them = Rs. 4400

∴ 15a + 28a + 45a = Rs. 4400

⇒ 88a = Rs. 4400

⇒ a = 4400/88 = 50

∴ Amount received by Punit = 45a

= 45 × 50

= Rs. 2250.
