A rectangular ground of length 54 m and width 26 m, has a walking strip of width 4 m in the middle of the ground along the shorter side. What is the area of the ground excluding the walking strip?  Correct Answer 1300 sq.m

Given:

Length = 54 m

Width = 26 m

Width of strip = 4 m

Formula used:

area of rectangle = Length × width

Calculation:

Area of ground = 54 × 26

Area of strip = 26 × 4

Required area = 54 × 26 - 26 × 4

⇒ 26 (54- 4) = 26 × 50 = 1300 m2

∴ The area is 1300 m2
