A rectangular field has 4 cm length and 3 cm width. From the corner of this field, a small square of side 1 cm is cut off. What will be the ratio of the length of the boundary of the rectangular field before cutting square and length of the boundary of the rectangular field after cutting square?

A rectangular field has 4 cm length and 3 cm width. From the corner of this field, a small square of side 1 cm is cut off. What will be the ratio of the length of the boundary of the rectangular field before cutting square and length of the boundary of the rectangular field after cutting square?   Correct Answer 1 ∶ 1

Given:

Length of rectangular field = 4 cm

Width of rectangular field = 3 cm

Side of a square =  1 cm

Formula Used:

Perimeter =  Sum of all sides

Calculation:

The length of the boundary of the rectangular field before cutting square = 4 + 3 + 4 + 3 = 14 cm

The length of the boundary of the rectangular field after cutting square = 3 + 3 + 4 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 14 cm

The length of the boundary of the rectangular field before cutting square ∶ The length of the boundary of the rectangular field after cutting square = 14 ∶ 14

∴ 1 ∶ 1

The correct option is 3 i.e. 1 ∶ 1
