A square has a boundary of 20 cm. From the corners of this square, a small square of side 1 cm is cut off. What will be the change in the boundary of the new shape? Correct Answer The boundary of the new shape will be equal to the boundary of square.
Formula used:
The perimeter of the square = 4 × side

The perimeter of the square = 4 × 20 = 80 cm
The perimeter of the square after a small square of 1 cm cut = 80 - 2 + 2 = 80 cm
∴ The boundary of the new shape will be equal to the boundary of the square.
