Ten men went to a hotel. Nine of them spent Rs. 50 each on their meals, and the tenth spent Rs. 9 more than the average of all of them. How much did the tenth man spend? Correct Answer Rs. 60

Given:

Ten men went to a hotel. Nine of them spent Rs. 50 each on their meals,

Calculation:

Number of observation = 10

Let the average expenditure of all the 10 be x

10th member spent Rs 9 more than x

The amount spent by the 10th member is x + 9

According to the question,

⇒ (50 × 9 + x + 9)/10 = x

⇒ 459 + x = 10x

⇒ 9x = 459

⇒ x = 51

Tenth member be spent = x + 9

⇒ 51 + 9 = 60

∴ The tenth man spend is 60.
